Disclosure Policy

Updated July 11, 2020.

My goal at MatthewSetter.com is to provide tips, tools, tutorials, and all manner of helpful information for web-based software development and technical documentation. I cover topics such as how to design, develop, debug web applications, along with how to ensure that they are secure and highly performant. I also cover how to document software, whether its a library, an application, or a small script.

The information you see on this site is free to readers & subscribers but represents many, many hours of time and research for me. As such, I feel compensation is appropriate. To that end, I’ve worked hard to make this process very unobtrusive to you, my readers.

I participate in affiliate programs which provide some income and allow me to devote more time and energy to maintaining MatthewSetter.com, and to creating more content, such as ebooks, courses, and my YouTube channel. You have my word, I will only promote products I personally use or can recommend without hesitation.

Integrity is essential to me. Gaining and keeping the trust of you, my readers, is paramount!

What I Do & Don’t Promote

I try to look at potential promoted products/services through the eyes of a customer. I ask myself if I would pay for it. After all, if I don’t think it’s worth paying for myself, I’d better have a really good reason to convince you to buy it.

In some places throughout this site, you will see references to my use of affiliate links or referral links. These references are called disclosures and are a requirement as put forth by the FTC in the U.S.A, and similar legal requirements in other countries.

They are there to inform you that I have a relationship with a particular product or service, and if you choose to purchase that product or service via my affiliate link, I will get a small commission. Of course, this is at no extra cost to you, but it does help me continue creating content here on the site, as well as ebooks and courses, and my YouTube channel. I truly appreciate your support in this way. Thank you.

My Own Products

Separate from my affiliate relationships, I sell products of my own, such as Mezzio Essentials, an ebook about PHP’s Mezzio framework. Profits from my own products come directly to me.

A Word About Amazon

I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program where I earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
